Laura Creekmore is an experienced, award-winning web strategist, online community and social media expert, project manager, editor and writer. Working in digital media since 1996, Creekmore is skilled in bridging the divide between business needs and technical realities.
After more than a dozen years in digital media, Creekmore opened her own firm in January 2009. She helps clients with online communities, social media, digital strategy and web content. Her work focuses on helping clients achieve their business goals and engaging their customers in a collaborative relationship. She is skilled at managing web development projects, working with business, technical and creative partners to ensure a successful outcome.
Creekmore worked at Nashville’s Hammock Inc. for 13 years, spending several years as the firm’s director of digital media. She was responsible for the company’s own digital media strategy, as well as for managing the team that served its largest web client, the National Federation of Independent Business. She led the multi-disciplinary team that created and then managed a social-media-based, event website for NFIB in 2008. The site earned the Custom Publishing Council’s 2008 Gold Pearl Award for best use of alternative media.
Her expertise includes technical writing, such as user and administrative documents for websites.
She was a member of a four-person team that co-created SmallBusiness.com in 2000, building an early online community knowledge-sharing site for small business owners. Creekmore served as the site’s director of content, managing the team that designed the site taxonomy and handled customer interaction.
Her past experience also includes serving as account manager, editor and circulation manager for a number of print periodicals, for association, health care and transportation industry clients.
Creekmore is the recipient of many industry awards, including recognition from the Web Marketing Association, the Webby Awards, the Association for Publication Excellence Awards and the Publications Management Magnum Opus Awards.
